"Communication issues"
The outcome of my appointment with Archiauto is an unhappy customer with a car that s not repaired, an unhappy frustrated coordinator mechanic and Archiauto unfortunately loosing ...(Más ↓) money having spent time without proper payment received. When I delivered my car the person receiving the car had excellent English. He was perhaps a bit quick when noting issues I attempted to explain, hence I wasn t sure what was added to the order. The coordinator mechanic handling my car seemed to not understand English, which is fine, I am in Spain. Had a local help me translate the video walkthrough of the car, but the person who helped isn t a car person and lack both technical understanding and correct terminology for car related issues in English. Didn t help much. The only data I had was a few sentences and a list planned actions with price. After using google translate it was all very confusing. What might have been understandable in Spanish was no longer specific and understandable when using google translate. Contacted a Norwegian Ford mechanic who had a look at the video to see if he understood without understanding Spanish, just watching what was in focus and pointed at . A 2 minute conversion in English would have been all we needed to sort all these misunderstandings and agree on what work to perform. Being in Spain using a Spanish workshop I wouldn t mind paying an extra fee for translation services if an extra person had to be involved due to my lack of Spanish knowledge. I was all along hoping this could be solved by the person who received the car who communicated in English. A 2 minute conversion with him in English at any point of this process could have resolved all misunderstandings. This person communicated that he doesn t have time to help when I visited the workshop. Probably not his responsibility regardless of having the time or not. Attempting to sort this through e-mails where both parties use google translate seemingly resulted in both me and the coordinator getting frustrated. I mentioned that I would be happy to visit Archiauto to have it sorted. The coordinator ended up requiring that a I bring a translator physically to Archiauto if we were to proceed. Considering previous experience I suppose I would need someone who understand cars, Spanish and English. I don t have any such candidates. Neither would that help if further questions issues surfaced while Archiauto were working on the car. My conclusion is that I unfortunately need to find a workshop where it s possible to communicate in a common language or have a physical walkthrough in person. When retrieving the car I clearly stated that I expected to pay for troubleshooting performed as communication issues are related to my unfortunate lack of Spanish language skills. As an example of mentioned confusion I have issues with the automatic cornering lights no longer functioning: H1 bulbs which light up as a second white beam toward right or left when the car turn right or left at low speeds. Based on the list of planned repairs having been through google translate it seemed to me as the coordinator might have understood my issue as the turn signals blinking orange manually triggered . Did he understand what lights I had issues with? I don t know, hence adding information about the cornering lights using H1 bulbs in the e-mail. Was this redundant causing confusion as he already understood my issues? Did he think I wanted something more or something else than I originally stated repaired? Don t know. Through a single phone call all these kinds of questions could have been clarified in seconds saving time and decreasing frustration on both sides.
